What is Safe Sex?
Safe Sex is any sort of sexual activity while minimizing the risk of transmitting or getting a sexually transmitted infections/diseases (STIs) or unplanned pregnancies. Involving different types of barriers such as condoms, dental dams, etc, or even plastic wrap
Why is it important?
It reduces the risk of a sexually transmitted disease or infeciton or unplanned pregnancy much more.
How to practice
Barrier Methods:
- Condoms: Both male and female condoms are effective barriers that prevent the exchange of fluids and protect against pregnancy and STIs
- Dental Dams: These are square pieces of latex or plastic used to cover the genitals during oral sex to prevent the exchange of body fluids
- Plastic Wrap: While not as effective as condoms or dental dams, plastic wrap can be used as a barrier during oral sex if no other options are available
- Spermicide: contraceptive method that uses chemicals to kill or immobilize sperm, preventing them from reaching and fertilizing an egg
